Electrical, Gas and Trash Removal
The electrical district system and natural gas system is owned and operated by the city of Scribner. The trash pick up is contracted through WasteConnections for all Scribner residents.

Scribner has a mayor-council form of government elected on a 4 year term.

Scribner Police Department
Police Department is staffed by 1 fulltime certified officer and 2 part-time reserve officers.

The Scribner Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department has one of the finest all volunteer departments in the state. There are a total of 36 volunteers and the department is one of the few in the state that has a waiting list for membership. Twenty-three of the volunteers are Emergency Medical Technicians and four of the volunteers are paramedics.
 
Scribner Fire and Rescue responds to approximately 170 calls per year and they are responsible for fire and rescue calls within a 97 square mile area in Dodge County.  Scribner Volunteer Fire and Rescue members serve a population of approximately 1,320.  In addition to the emergency response calls, these dedicated individuals take time out of their busy schedules to attend ongoing training meetings and drills that are held several times throughout the month.
 
Civil defense duties include spotting for tornadoes and manning the flood gates in the event of weather emergencies.
 
Tax dollars fund the department.  The department hosts a variety of fund raising activities.  An annual pancake feed and fish fry are two of the biggest fund raising events for the departments.
 
Outreach activities include:
  • Burger Cook Out at the Citywide Haze Days Celebration
  • Halloween Candy and glow sticks for trick-or-treaters at the City Park
  • Poster contests, station tours and truck rides given during Fire Prevention Week at the Fire Station 
  • Fire Prevention education and training for elementary students at Scribner-Snyder Schools 
  • Smoke detector, Carbon Monoxide detector and first aid training in the community
  • Smoke detector door to door battery testing
  • Building Clean up at Fair Grounds before and after the Dodge County Fair
  • Fire and Rescue services during Dodge County Fair
